Event #8 is in the books! The morning started off like no other. As event organizers arrived before dawn, Damon Cuccia had been there for a good hour. The tables were setup, the registration bins removed, the paddock and grid already established with cones, and the area secured. Damon was a one-man setup crew!! With everyone else on setup taking it easy because of Damon’s efforts, the course setup went quick and easy. The site was shod with banners and flags from the event’s sponsor, Hoosier tire. A big thanks goes out to Hoosier and Rick Ruth for their support of the event!! The driver’s meeting was done, novice walk through complete and the first car out by 10:30AM.

One of the best “series” in Louisiana autocross is the CENLA night series.  It’s a great event because it allows you to take a more leisurely approach to preparing for the event – you can wake up late, take a nice drive to Baton Rouge, prepare your car in the relatively cool late-afternoon, enjoy a fantastic event, and drive home under the stars.  The August event was no different.  CENLA did the usual outstanding job of putting together a very organized event with almost military precision (helps when you have Greg Wiley (ex-Navy) running things).  The course, while a hybrid of the Divisional course, was different enough to make it interesting and a challenge to even the drivers who had attended the divisional event.

Sowela put on another first class event for TLAC 2. Everything was on schedule and the course was extremely challenging. The grid was pretty tight, especially for the 2-driver cars, but it worked out fine. This review is based on preliminary results.

Unfortunately our event on June 15 was cancelled for safety issues. After the great Solo school we had Saturday, we blocked off the site for Sunday. Our rental contract with Zephyrs gave us both lots for 2 days, so we didn’t break down the course and kept all our barricades up to secure the area.

Unofficial results: Delta’s Ken Orgeron held off RRR driver Jeff Schaat by 0.039 seconds to win the overall PAX for TLAC1. Nice work Ken!
