Due to safety concerns with the event site at Belle Chasse, the Intermediate School and Regional Autocross scheduled for June 5/6, 2010 has been cancelled.  Due to scheduling conflicts with the event site at Zephyrs, we cannot reschedule this event to that site. 

The Delta Board will continue to work with the Naval Air Station to attempt to get the brush and trees removed, but until such time as they do, we will not utilize that facility for any Delta events.  The safety concerns are just too high.

Thanks to the people who came out and helped us run the grid at the Charity Challenge: Benson Young, Brett Mount, Amber Dorsey, Bill Sims, Brandon Travaso, Ed Rode, Jack Heaton and Walter Smith. Grid ran fairly smoothly and safely. Several drivers came up to thank us for helping out, and one even went out of his way to tell us how much he appreciated the hand signals and time warnings to going out on course. He said, “Only SCCA runs a grid that smoothly…who are you guys with? (sees our shirts)…OH you ARE SCCA!”

Also, thanks to Mitchell Mark for organizing the Exotic Chase Cars at the event. Drivers took their sports cars around the track with passengers who paid a $20 donation to St. Mary’s Residential Training School. Mitchell and his group raised $1500 for the cause.

Delta Region has again agreed to bring volunteers to help with grid at the
Charity Race. We will need:

2 volunteers on Friday, April 16th
5 volunteers on Saturday, April 17th
5 volunteers on Sunday, April 18th.

We want to invite everyone and thier friends to the next three “solo” events on March 14, and May 9 and July 18, 2010. The gates and registration will open at 10:00 am and the track will be open for track walks until 11:00 am. Cars and trucks will be “quick teched” from 10 am until 11:30. “quick tech” forms and information sheets can be sent to you with a request from info@circuitgrandbayou.com

At 11:00 am we will be hosting a “chalk talk” in the drivers lounge. The chalk talk will give participants some helpful hints on navigating the track in a smoother, safer and quicker manner. The drivers meeting will follow at 11:30 and the first car out will be at noon. We will run until 4pm.

The concession stand will open from 11:00 until 1:00 at each event.

Belated report:

After being thwarted by weather, Mardi Gras, and football, Delta successfully completed its 2009 trailer day.

The first part of the operation was to remove and sort through the accumulated detritus of the past few seasons. We are saddened to report the demise of the following items:

• A small army of broken pop-up tents
• Several spools of ethernet cable (more on that in a second)
• Two generations of obsolete timing and scoring system and several spools of obsolete cable
• The old broken PA system
• A PVC pipe cable bridge that hasn’t been used in over three years
• The bulletin board for the side of the trailer
• About 8 garbage cans of general trash

So much more room now!

We’ve also made some significant improvements elsewhere, which will make set up and tear down much faster:

• Trailer is now wired for power. One plug does it all.
• The new PA system is integrated into the trailer.
• Timing, scoring, and registration are now 100% wireless.

10am @ Snee Chemical Co on Pespi Ave., Harahan, LA 70123 Zephyrs Stadium

Hi everyone, since we didnt get to have on this year, we will be passing on a January event and utilize this time off to rearrange and clean up the trailer. We need as much help as possible and I would like a head count of whos coming so we can designate duties to people. If your able to make it please let me know either by post of pm. Ill figure out whos doing what as time gets closer and if theres anything needed for the day of.

Ill be detailing this in the next week or so, but thanks to all that helped make this such a great year, and lets keep this going and make 2010 a blowout.
