Delta Region SCCA will be hosting an autocross on August 8th at Zephyr’s Field in Metairie (directions here).

As always, these events are open to anyone with a desire to race and a car that can pass a minimal safety inspection (basically, safe to drive on the street).

It’s August and there will be little to no shade at Zephyrs. Please bring whatever you need to stay reasonably cool. Water sprayers and popup tents are encouraged.

We want a huge turnout, so please help us get the word out.

As stated before, due to scheduling conflicts, we were unable to secure Zephyrs for a June event. We are hoping to make that up with our July Mega-Event:

Coming July 10th and 11th to Zephyr Field, Delta will be hosting an entire weekend of autocross and drift.

Saturday the 11th will feature autocross in the morning and afternoon and then an open drift event beginning around 3pm.

Sunday the 12th will be a normal autocross.

More details for the races are below.Drivers will see a brand new course on both Saturday and Sunday. Weekend series trophies will be awarded for those competing both days.

Additionally, Corr Performance will be onsite with their dyno on Saturday afternoon for those wanting to see what kind of numbers they are putting down.

Due to uncontrollable circomstances, Delta Region had to cancel the May and June events for 2010.  The Board has worked to try and re-schedule these events, but has not been able to work that out.  This leaves us without events for May and June.  This leaves our next event as July 10/11, 2010.  We are going to put together a two-day format with class trophies for each day and overall class trophies for those that participate both days.  We will also work to add a little something extra to this event to make up for lost time.  Stay tuned for more information.

Due to the weather conditions predicted (90% chance of thunderstorms through noon), this event is cancelled.  We will be working with Zephrys to re-schedule it as soon as possible.  Looking at a two-day event, possibly on May 22-23.

Due to safety concerns with the event site at Belle Chasse, the Intermediate School and Regional Autocross scheduled for June 5/6, 2010 has been cancelled.  Due to scheduling conflicts with the event site at Zephyrs, we cannot reschedule this event to that site. 

The Delta Board will continue to work with the Naval Air Station to attempt to get the brush and trees removed, but until such time as they do, we will not utilize that facility for any Delta events.  The safety concerns are just too high.

Due to safety regulations - we cannot run any FJ karts at this weekend’s Belle Chasse event.

We’ve got a big Solo weekend planned!

Saturday’s annual Novice Autocross School is almost full, and we have a great curriculum planned.

I’ve printed a nifty pocket-sized notebook for the students and instructors to keep notes for the day.

Sunday is Solo Event #2 for 2010. See you at the track!

The region will be hosting a trailer maintenance/cleanup day on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Snee Chemical Company (5565 Pepsi Street, Metairie, LA).  The event will start at 9:00AM and go until we are finished.
