History
Delta Region was chartered in 1954, by the Sports Car Club of America . Based in New Orleans, the club is one of four in Louisiana (Baton Rouge/Cenla, Lake Charles/Sowela, Shreveport/Red River). Today, Delta has over 150 members.
Who makes up the membership? Motorsports enthusiasts from all walks of life. SCCA caters to many interests, from wheel-to-wheel racers to Solo drivers to safety experts to course workers. Most members have a day job outside of their motorsports hobbies, which range from full-time students to business professionals (we seem to attract disproportionate number of engineers). On weekends, our members can be found on tracks all over the country, either at the wheel of a race car or waving a flag at the corner or dancing through pylons.

Meetings
General Membership Meetings are scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at Italian Pie, unless this interferes with a holiday. Meetings are open to all members and the general public. We try to keep things informal and fun. In this busy age of everything on-demand, it’s important to just sit down and share conversation with friends who share a passion for motorsports. We rotate between Slidell and Metairie to better accommodate our Board and Members.

Event Sites
Over the past 50+ years, Delta Region has host Solo and Club Racing events at sites all over the area. Past Club Racing sites include Alvin Calendar Field at Belle Chasse Naval Air Station. Past Solo sites include the Hammond Airport, etc. Delta currently sanctions Solo events at two sites: Alvin Calendar Field at Belle Chasse Naval Air Station and Zephyrs Stadium in Metairie.

WEB SITE
About this web site: Delta SCCA launched this site in January of 2008 powered Wordpress (link), an open-source blogging software, for serving and managing our web site. Content is created from posts and pages in a blog-style format, making updates easier and quicker. All content is based on web-forms, so special web site creation software isn’t needed, nor tools like FTP to post content. We have several contributors, editors, and administrators, so the club can create and maintain more content with less specialized skills. The Theme used is based on Theme by Wired Studios, courtesy of Corvette Garage , with customized graphics and content by club member Benson Young.
Static content is done with Adobe Dreamweaver CS3, along with file management. Graphics are created with Adobe Illustrator CS3, image editing is done with Adobe Photoshop CS3, and page layouts are done with Adobe InDesign CS3 (though most single-page layouts are done as Adobe Illustrator PDF to reduce file management). We’ve putting strong effort into moving out content into Wordpress posts, for easy navigation and searching.
Our web site is hosted by Shults.com, who has been very generous in providing affordable web space to Delta over the years. In particular, we thank John and Mary-Ann Shults for their support of Delta Region and other SCCA clubs. If you are looking for a web design and hosting service, please contact them.
In the future, we plan to extend the power of Wordpress through plug-ins that will make our site even better.
