Well, we had a *great day* despite some difficulties, mostly stemming around some basic stupidity on my part. First was leaving the radios back home in the wrong vehicle, so we had to improvise a bit. We dug up the old radios and gave them a quick charge which made it halfway through the day before going dead. Thanks to a generous return policy at Wal-Mart, we had the critical start-timing comminucation covered with some really cheap FRS radios. Another was the our deep-cycle battery that didn’t hold a charge and went dead moments after powering up. It did, however, make a suitable anchor for the canopies. (more article, photos and results after the jump)
Besides that, we did have some good things happen. Justin’s course was quick, fun, and surprisingly challenging. We cycled through a nice turnout of 61 drivers in just 5 hours, though got a bit of a late start while registration ran late with people showing up.
Good things: putting in some quality time with Axware over the week let us a few time-saving features, like auto-splitting of the heats and work-assignments lists. Walter was able to get through his workers quickly.
The new wireless timer worked very well and definately improved the quality of our events. We also managed to solve a few display issues quickly and a new compact power source worked out nicely. While the sectional timing function didn’t work the way we wanted, the potential is there. We should have that sorted out by TLAC next weekend.
Great driving today by the out-of-towners. Shea Fogelman took a long trip from RRR to destroy us all in his shifter cart, while the Wetzels drove from Pensacola to administer another guest beating.
Class Results with section timings (not entirely accurate, but still interesting),
Summary Results which I don’t often post, but the Class results are a bit cluttered by the Section Times
Raw times (wow)
Virtual Results, which are spposed to show what could have been if you put together all your fastest sections into a single run. This area needs some work and better setup next time.
