As we start to wind down 2008, this is a reminder to Delta members that the Delta Driver Of The Year series is another avenue for accomplishment. The series rules is in the original post, but I’ve copied them here for you since I’m a nice guy.
Remember that Delta Driver Of The Year is user-submitted: we do not track your points, since you have probably been racing outside the Delta area. We use an honor system and rely on you to both calculate and submit your points to Damon Cuccia, who is our regional pointskeeper. We will verify any results we can, but we rely on sportsmanship and honesty to award the Delta Driver Of The Year.
DRIVER OF THE YEAR SERIES
The Driver of the Year award shall be awarded to the Delta driver that
accumulated the most points, according to the following rules.
Driver of the Year Series Points:
- 1st place = 12 points
- 2nd place = 9 points
- 3rd place = 7 points
- 4th place = 5 points
- 5th place = 4 points
- 6th place = 3 points
- 7th place = 2 points
- All other places = 1 point
- DNS or DQS = 0 points
Additional points will be assigned as follows:
- +25 points for attending the SCCA National Championship
- +15 points for attending an SCCA National Tour or Divisional
- +10 points for attending TLAC
- +10 points for Top PAX
- +10 points for FTD
Driver of the Year Series Points:
- Only Delta Members are eligible.
- The driver receives points for all sanctioned SCCA Solo events in which they compete. A DNS or DSQ receives no points.
- For points earned at events other than Delta events, the driver must submit the official event results to the Assistant Regional Executive prior to December 31 of that same year. Results may be verified against published online results.
- The Standard 12-9-7-5-4-3-2-1 points assignment (see Class Championship) will be used.
- Drivers may compete in multiple classes throughout the year.
