Matthew Patterson and Patrick Harris competed in the first race of the 2008-2009 Grand Bayou Race Series (GBRS) at No Problem Raceway on Oct. 5, 2008 and each posted 1st place wins in their respective classes.

Patterson made his 2nd GBRS start in his 2000 Trans Am (a/k/a the Red Rhino) and battled heavily with the Corvettes in the GTO class. About mid-race, Patterson went through turn 1 faster than he ever has, broke loose under braking in turn 2, and spun in turn 3. His saving grace was the red #69 Corvette of Trey Pennell, whom he had been dicing it up with, encountered engine trouble, pulled off the track, and parked it for the remainder of the race. Patterson only had to stay ahead of the BCI Motorsports #01 Corvette driven by Dennis Gros to take the GTO win.
Harris won in the Yellow Bracket while making his 1st GBRS start in a Spec Miata borrowed from Brent Mosing. Heeding some good advice, Harris watched closely for the green flag to drop bumping up a couple of positions right at the start. He ran closely with Troy Marcello in the red #85 Mazda RX-7, and passed the yellow #68 Porsche of Mike Hamza and the red #411 Porsche of Julius Ridgeway before the race was over. Thanking God, Brent, his wife, the workers, and the race committee, Harris happily accepted the 1st place plaque.
