In an emergency meeting, the Delta BoD voted in favor of merging with Cenla Region, 8 votes to 2. Poor financial health of both clubs was cited as the primary reason, with declining membership in post-Katrina New Orleans also playing a role. “It makes sense, because everyone is moving out of New Orleans to Baton Rouge anyway” says Communications Chair Brian Harper. Delta Regional Executive Benson Young, who fiercely opposed the motion, resigned immediately after the votes were counted. “I quit, I’m joining Gulf Coast Region” said Young. Board Member Damon Cuccia also voted against the measure, “because Benson told me to”. Cenla RE Nathan Brandom will serve as leader for both regions.
When presented about the possible backlash from Delta members, Cenla’s Chris Carver, who initiated the hostile takeover, said “I didn’t ask.”…
