John Lieberman, our Divisional Safety Steward and Solo Safety Steward Instructor, is holding a Solo Safety Steward Class on Friday, April 18th, 2008 in the Baton Rouge Area at 7:30 pm
This is the Cenla Divisional weekend, and he’s hosting the class at his hotel in nearby Port Allen. It’s just south of I-10 on Highway 415, which is west of Baton Rouge and the Mississippi River bridge.

Please note that Google Maps may show this as north of I10: it is south of the interstate on the Lobdell exit (exit 151). Highway 415 = Lobdell Highway.
We’ll try to post his room number, but he’s going to tell the front desk that he’s expecting guests. Ask them if you are unsure (tell them you are from the Emperor’s VIP Club). Or, just follow your nose for the ever-present pipe smoke (this is John Lieberman, after all).
As they only active Solo Safety Steward in Delta Region, I’ll beg once again for everyone remotely interested to please attend the class. We’ve been critically short on licensed SSS for the last three years, and had to cancel several events because I could not make it. This is a critical event official, and I’m desperate for help. There hasn’t been a class down here in almost two years, so don’t pass up this chance. At the last class, there were six Delta members taking the class not including myself (a refresh for me) and only one ever followed through to get a license (Thanks Ken).
This is the first, and most crucial step in becoming a licensed Solo Safety Steward. Once you complete the class (a couple hours), the SSS Instructor will give you a form (don’t lose it!). You need to be an Assistant SSS for TWO events (requiring the signature of the event’s acting SSS) before you can submit the form for your license. Given a monthly Solo event schedule for Delta, this will usually take 2-3 months before you can get licensed. That means the first step is *crucial* to getting the process started.
Please make every effort to attend. Delta desperately needs your help.
