Back in 2006, Tim Coughlin and I were co-driving his Honda S2000 in A-Stock for the TLAC series. At one event, he decided to plaster my S2000 with tiny “Hello Kitty” stickers. I found them everywhere. On the wheel, the rear view mirror, in the center console… he was *very* creative. That day he had to leave early so I towed his tire trailer home with me. The trailer had a removable compressed air tank attached to it, and I decided to give it a new paint job (payback). Knowing that the tank was mounted to the outside of his trailer on the corss bar, I decided to make the tank a little more noticeable. I repainted it NOS blue and put ricey stickers all over it. I actually put a lot of work into it, sanding off the rust, painting and clear coating it. My wife asked me “Won’t Tim get mad?”
“God I hope so.”
On the way to the next race, I towed Tim’s trailer back to Baton Rouge with my S2000. That morning, a state trooper passed me on the interstate, slowed down, then sped up again. I get that a lot, because towing with an S2000 isn’t exactly a common sight (except maybe on Sundays). It took me a few miles to realize that the trooper was doing a double-take on the NOS bottle. Had I thought about it, I would have ran the hose from the tank on the trailer into the trunk to really throw people off.
Some time later, Tim said the tank “fell off the trailer” somewhere on I-10.
I didn’t buy the story either.
